Overview

The Godzillasaurus is a strange looking dinosaur that resembles an outdated depiction of a Tyrannosaurus rex,
(standing in a "tripod" stance) though it differs from one in several
ways, as pointed out by the character Emi. Standing close to 40 feet
tall and weighing 60 metric tons, it is much larger than a
Tyrannosaurus, rivaling some Sauropods
in size. Its neck is long and thick, has a puffy mammalian looking face
(like Heisei Godzilla), and its hands, instead of possessing two
fingers, have three fingers and an opposable thumb. It also has a
double row of fangs, similar to a shark.
According to Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II , Godzillasaurs were Brood parasites,
which laid their eggs in the nests of other dinosaurs. Once the eggs
hatched, the parent Godzillasaurus would then return for the offspring.
Young Godzillasaurs were telepathic to an extent, as shown by Baby
Godzilla's psychic bond with Miki Saegusa and Rodan. When frightened, the eyes of a baby Godzillasaurus would glow red, an ability lost in adolesence.

Film Appearances

In its singular adult appearance, the Godzillasaurus apparently
lived alone on the deserted Lagos Island in the South Pacific, having
somehow survived the extinction of the dinosaurs to the present. In 1992, a group of time travelers from the 23rd century called the Futurians
told the Japanese government that according to a book published in the
future, Godzilla was originally a Godzillasaurus sighted on Lagos
island in 1944.
Their plan was to prevent Godzilla's creation by keeping the
Godzillasaurus from ever being exposed to nuclear radiation, unaware
that the current Godzilla was not the same one that had attacked Tokyo
in 1954.
The Futurians traveled back in time and encountered the
Godzillasaurus during World War II, where they watched it attack a
Platoon of American soldiers, chasing them out onto the beach. It was
mortally wounded by an assault from a nearby battleship, and the
Godzillasaurus lumbered back into the jungle to die.
With the Godzillasaurus conveniently wounded, the Futurians used a teleporting machine to send it into the Bering Sea,
where it was believed that it would not survive. However, an accident
involving a nuclear submarine in the late 1970s caused the
Godzillasaurus to revive and mutate into the Heisei Godzilla, effectively setting history as it was before.

Other film appearances

Another member of the Godzillasaurus genus would also be found in Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II, in a pteranodon nest along with Rodan. This Godzillasaurus was apparently of a type closely related to Godzilla's species, but was less aggressive, and herbivorous.
This baby Godzillasaurus would be adopted by Godzilla after he
destroyed Mechagodzilla and slowly mutate as it was exposed to his
radiation, becoming Godzilla Junior, (and also seemingly switching from eating plants to meat, attacking whales in Godzilla vs. Destoroyah.)
