AppearancesKing Kong vs. GodzillaKing Kong lived on an island called Faro Island and was worshipped
as a god by the natives on the island until a pharmaceutical company
decided to take Kong to Japan as a sponsor. The leading men Tako,
Sakurai and Kinsaburo successfully captured Kong, but on their way to
Japan, Tako accidentally blows up the raft covered in dynamite Kong was
sleeping on.
Kong wakes up after the explosion and swims off to Japan. In a
valley, King Kong meets Godzilla and they go into battle. After Kong
throws some rocks at Godzilla, the king shoots his atomic ray at Kong
and the giant ape retreats. After his battle with Godzilla, Kong
attacks Tokyo, and has a woman hostage with him. The JSDF drop some
capsules with Kong's favorite berry juice from Faro, and is put to
sleep. The next morning, the JSDF drop Kong from a balloon air-lift in
the Mt. Fuji area where Godzilla is located to make the two giants
fight to the death.
Godzilla had an advantage in the beginning, but Kong begins to get
the advantage when an electric storm hits him and uses his electrical
power to do damage on Godzilla. In the end, Kong and Godzilla fall off
a cliff and hurl into the ocean and a few minutes later, Kong resufaces
from the water and swims back to his home.
The King Kong ShowIn the American/Japanese children's animated television series
The King Kong show,
Kong befriends the Bond Family, with whom he goes on various adventures
saving the world from monsters, robots, aliens, mad scientists and
other threats.
King Kong EscapesIn the film adaptation to the cartoon series, King Kong goes up against his robotic counterpart, Mechani-Kong,
invented by the evil genius Dr. Who to dig for a radioactive element
called "Element X". After Mechani-Kong fails to do this, Dr. Who
kidnaps the real Kong and hypnotizes him to dig for Element X. Kong
eventually snaps out of it and swims to Tokyo to finish it with his
mechanical enemy.
In this film, King Kong's appearance is quite different, and he
lacks the electrical powers seen in King Kong vs. Godzilla, leading to
the possibility that he is in fact a different King Kong altogether.
There is however no proof either way.
Other Appearances
- The King Kong suit from King Kong Escapes appeared in Ike! Greenman episode 38 Greenman vs Gorilla. Due to copyright reasons he was called Gorilla.
- King Kong made a brief flashback during the opening credits of 2004's Godzilla: Final Wars.
