Powers and Abilities[


The majority of Death Ghidorahs powers involve the draining of
energy. His body constantly discharges a toxic mist which drains the
life from every living thing in his vicinity and transfers the energy
to him. The amount of energy absorbed is proportionate to the victims
age, therefore trees are favoured due to their longer lifespans.
Unlike his doppelganger King Ghidorah, Death Ghidorah's mouths fire a combination of fire, magma
and energy blasts rather than gravity beams. Though seemingly slow in
flight, official sources indicate he is capable of speeds far greater
than those achieved by King Ghidorah.

Rebirth of Mothra


Death Ghidorah was an extraterrestrial dragon responsible for the destruction of the civilizations of Mars and the extinction of the dinosaurs (though this is disputed in Rebirth of Mothra III where it is said that King Ghidorah was responsible). He was defeated and sealed into a tomb by the anscestors of Mothra.
Death Ghidorah developed over the years following its defeat,
eventually being awakened by a logging operation in Hokkaido. The beast
had been sealed away by Mothra whilst it was developing, but the
foreman removed the binding seal and thus alerted the wicked fairy Belvera to the discovery. Belvera secured the seal and released the monster, hoping to control him. Her sisters, the good Elias, soon arrived, summoning Mothra to again defeat the dreaded beast. But Mothra could not prevail against Death Ghidorah.
Sensing her distress, the unborn Mothra caterpillar emerged from its
egg and came to its mother's aid. Even this was not enough, and Death
Ghidorah drove both of his enemies away. The elder Mothra expired from
wounds received in the battle. The younger sought out a mystic 10,000
year old tree, employing its ancient energies to transform into an even
more powerful adult Mothra. The new Mothra, Leo
lost little time in renewing the battle, handedly defeating Death
Ghidorah and with the help of the Elias, once more imprisoning him
within his mountain.
